Be Like a Tree is a video work that uses technology as a subtle tool for transformation and reflection. Participants are filmed reciting the same short Rumi poem — “Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop.” Each face and voice, captured in intimate close-up, becomes part of a growing digital chorus.
With the help of machine learning, facial features and vocal textures are gently blended into a continuously evolving composite. Spanning time, the individual gradually gives way to the collective: one face made of many, one voice echoing with multitudes. The result is a meditative reflection on unity, identity, impermanence, and the quiet beauty of letting go.
Moh Azima is a filmmaker and artist working at the intersection of narrative, portraiture, and emerging technology. His work explores transformation, memory, and the porous boundaries of identity.
